Dr. Clifford Smith
Dr. Clifford Smith grew up on the south side of Chicago where taking care of the family pets instilled his love of animals. He attended the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he received his bachelor’s degree in biology and as well as his DVM degree. Upon graduation, he went on to complete a one-year small animal internship at Auburn University in Alabama. After completing his internship, he and his wife moved back to the Midwest to join Merrillville Animal Hospital where he’s been practicing general medicine and surgery ever since. Dr. Smith is part of a compassionate team whose goal is to provide clients with the best care possible for their pets. He provides options that are tailored to your pet’s condition and needs and works with each owner to choose the best diagnostic and treatment plan. His interests outside of veterinary medicine include cooking, gardening, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.

She helps out in all the facets of the clinic, from assisting the doctors to helping clients in the reception area. Sarah and her husband are very passionate about animal rescue and share their home with many furry babies. Anna has been a dedicated employee since 2007, but even before that she was a client! Her family has always brought their pets to Merrillville Animal Hospital, so she has many favorable memories from coming here as a child. As our veterinary assistant, she is instrumental in the care and treatment of our furry patients. She has four fur kids at home that she shares with Jason, her boyfriend. They have two cats, Draco and Colby, and two beagles, Jasper and Cody. In her spare time, she loves working out, staying fit by running in local races, as well as socializing with her friends.
Chris is one of the first faces you will see and one of the first voices you will hear at Merrillville Animal Hospital! He has been with the practice for a little over 3 years now and has been instrumental in the transition to the new owner. When he’s not setting up your pet’s appointment or answering your general questions, he’s catering to his five dogs who clearly run the house.
Meet our newest employee! Priscilla has almost a decade of experience working with animals in all aspects of veterinary medicine, from primary care to emergency care.
